Established in 1953, Dr. Abdus Samad Memorial Hospital is a non profit healthcare institution serving the communities of Liaquatabad and Nazimabad, Karachi. Founded with the vision of providing dignified and affordable medical care to families living below the poverty line, the hospital has remained committed to
maternal and child health and preventive care for more than seventy years.
Our Services and Impact
From January to December 2025, 47,000 patients were treated in the General OPD at a nominal fee of Rs.150 per visit, while the actual average cost per patient is around Rs. 700. During the same period, 13,000 patients were served in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, where the average cost per patient is approximately Rs. 2,500, yet only Rs. 600 is charged to ensure affordability. In patient care, eye services, dental treatment, and physiotherapy are also provided at significantly subsidized rates.
Patients unable to afford even subsidized charges are supported through a structured Zakat fund administered in coordination with Dar ul Uloom, Korangi, under the supervision of Mufti Taqi Usmani to ensure proper Shariah compliant distribution. The organization holds valid tax exemption certification under Section 2(36)(c) from the Federal Board of Revenue and is registered with the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy and the Sindh
Healthcare Commission.
As patient volumes grow and medical costs continue to rise, there is an increasing need to strengthen infrastructure, upgrade essential equipment, and expand service capacity so that quality healthcare remains accessible to the masses.
